Eating Disorders, Body Image, Self-Esteem & Anxiety
Eating disorders, negative body image and low self-esteem are often misunderstood, mystifying challenges that leave clients and their loved ones uncertain on how to overcome their negative, and sometimes life-threatening symptoms. Eating disorders can come in many shapes and sizes and are not always noticeable to those who are not well informed about them. They are mentally, physically, and emotionally draining on those who suffer with them along with their loved ones as well. When faced with these challenges, it can be difficult to know where to begin. I assist in helping my clients identify the root cause(s) of their problem and work with them on a plan to cope and deal with their challenges, thereby reducing the prevalence of symptoms. Through this process, I consider the client as a whole, taking all aspects of their life into consideration. I look to not only treat the problem but identify the root cause of the issues that the client is facing.
My style of treating eating disorders, negative body image, self-esteem and anxiety challenges is rooted in a holistic fashion. I feel it is important to dissect the various aspects of a person’s lifestyle and evaluate what is working well and what needs adjusting. When working with clients I carefully tailor my approach to meet the specific needs of the client, understanding that each person is unique. Throughout our time together, I regularly check in on the progress of the plan that we have developed together to ensure that we are headed in an upward direction toward ultimate self-acceptance and inner peace.
It is important for clients and their loved ones to understand that overcoming these challenges does not happen overnight and can only happen if effort is put forth by all parties. Overcoming these challenges is not easy, however, I am here to listen, help develop a plan, and assist in executing the plan toward recovery and wellness.
